Cyber Craft: Re-imagining Technology as a Gendered and Embodied Practice

This artist talk will focus on electronic textiles and wearable technology, and the ways in which digital craftsmanship collides with mathematics, physics, and engineering in order to create expressive interfaces that allow us to interact with our bodies. It will explore how textiles and mathematics are embedded into the history of computing, while talking about gender and cultural identities, decoloniality in the creation of technological artifacts and sound as a medium of exploring our surroundings in poetic meaningful ways. Lastly, the talk will engage with the idea of hidden labor in late-capitalism, hacking AI and ML systems and proposing strategies for envisioning alternative futures.
