Transmission Ecologies at Movement Radio

Starting November 2020 Afroditi Psarra will be curating a monthly show entitled “Transmission Ecologies” at Movement Radio. The radio show will consist of field recordings with handmade antennas, live sets, spoken word and sonic experiments around RF sensing, SDR, EMFs, wifi signals, and more of the unheard sounds that comprise the complex network of telecommunications that surround us. Each month an invited guest will contribute their own interpretation of Transmission Ecologies with an-hour mixtape that will be broadcasted through the website of Movement Radio. Confirmed guests are: Kris Roos, Audrey Briot, Eleanor Jones, Sasha Engelman and Sophie Dyer, Victor Mazon and Adriana Knouf.

Movement Radio is an international online radio station based in Athens that explores concepts of presence and motion focused mainly in the area of the Mediterranean Basin through myths of exodus and exile, cross-cultural interactions, political and theoretical discourses and reflections on living in or after movement.

Movement Radio acts like a data center/memory bank for the Movement Festival, featuring a continuous broadcast of commissioned pieces, thematic mixtapes, audio documentations, testimonies of migration itinerancy, narratives, interviews and DJ sets. At its core, Movement Radio is a sonic agent broadcasting sounds, tonalities, noises, echoes and reverberations, words, thoughts and ideas, a sonically perceived museum, an archipelago imaginary, mapping communities and sounds in movement.
