The DXARTS SoftLab is a studio and an online platform whose mission is to examine the role of workmanship in artistic research, to redefine the use of crafting in the post-digital era, and to explore the body as an interface of control and resistance. It is part of the Department of Digital Arts and Experimental Media (DXARTS) at the University of Washington in Seattle.

Wireless and Lawless by Sadaf Sadri

This body of research explores various types of communication that can be possible replacements for our common communication technologies that can be easily tracked and surveilled by the governments. So far this mind map explores Decentralized communications such as mesh network and ad hoc networks and radio communications such as clandestine radio, offshore radio and two-way radio.

The goal of this project is to create a collection of garments that have a mesh network between them that individuals can use to communicate and object the surveillance.
